Because I am dumb stubborn pig-headed persistent, I spent a few more hours yesterday going back through those totes, completely emptying and refilling them because the threads for Mary Burgess MUST be in there somewhere, right? Wrong. I did find several kits with AVAS in them and tried to poach, but could only find 2 colors and if I took them out, what would I do when I wanted to stitch THOSE? So I’m just going to buy the missing colors and get on with it.
And then I came across this:
I had forgotten all about Ann Smith, but I do have her threads and directions! In fact, I thought her threads were Mary Burgess’. But I digress. I was very excited to find this until I remembered why it ended up in a box and off the scroll rods. See down in the bottom right corner? That is about an inch away from the end of the fabric. And there is still the entire bottom border (similar to the top border) to be stitched. The fabric is too short. I had put a lot of work into her already, but thankfully not the entire middle section, a large part of which is over 1. See original here. So my dilemma at the time (and today) was whether to omit the bottom border and delete and save what I had done so far, or contact Scarlet Letter in an attempt to get a replacement and start all over. I think if I kept what I have, I would always look at it and think it would have looked better with the bottom border. What do you think?
O’k – I think you know the answer to your question – I think we both know it . . . because you are you (who I love dearly) you will be totally unhappy if you go forward with it and omit the border. Although I might be more prone to keeping going and omit — even I in this case would start over — I just don’t think I would like the sampler without that bottom border.
So – contact S.L – and make sure you double check the threads you have – b/c you might need more of them if you are starting over.
Now that you have to wait for threads (Mary) or fabric (Ann) – what are you going to stitch in the meantime; and which one of the girls are you going to work on when you get the supplies? I also checked my stash – I don’t have either one of them.
I would take what you have stitched and do some fun little things with it, cut it up. I’ve taken a couple classes with the BBD ladies and they do such cute things with similar projects. Then I would bite the bullet and start over :-).
Now I need to go see if I have that chart in my stash, LOL.
Oh wow! What a shame that the fabric is too short! Ouch! I looooove Ann Smith! I’m so glad you stopped at my blog — I remember discovering your blog way before I blogged and loving it. You stitch the most beautiful pieces! I’m going to put you in my reader asap. 😀 Love your Mary Burgess too!
