I’m back!

Moss Stitch ScarfMoss Stitch ScarfWell, at least I hope so. I would like to try to post once a week at least. I got a “real” job and I definitely do not have time to even open the internet, never mind blog. And at home is my DH and almost 3-year old boy – not much time here either.

And I have been super busy with the knitting! But I have not given up stitching – just kind of put it aside for a bit. I have been working on a model since the beginning of the year and eventually had to send it back to the designer unfinished. I feel really bad about this, but I can’t believe the pressure it was putting on me and that pressure was making me not want to pick up any other stitching. So I knit instead, because hey, that’s not the same thing. I swear, I can justify just about anything craft-related.

My last post made me laugh because it said it was “finally” snowing in Maine. Well it snowed all right, and snowed, and snowed. We got several inches thing week too and then the rains started, but if you live in the US, you’ve probably already heard about the flooding. We were lucky though and didn’t lose power or have any wind or water damage on our property. But many of my friends and co-workers did. In fact, one of my co-workers and a close friend are still without power, several days after the storm.

Two local knit shops that I love to frequent are The Knitting Experience Cafe (www.theknittingexperience.com) and Purl Diva (www.purldiva.com). Both are located in Brunswick, Maine, and I recommend both of them to you. Each of the owners is a delight and very knowledgeable and they each have different stocks, so there is no guilt in visiting one or the other. I have been known to visit both in the same day.

Here are a few recent completions:

And now I am working on the Clementine Shawlette from the Spring ’07 Interweave Knits magazine (awesome issue). I started working it in Miracle by Classic Elite, but it was too “fuzzy” for me. I wanted more stitch definition. So I picked up some Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino in a teal color. I love Baby Cashmerino. Love it, love it, love it! I took a sock class at Purl Diva and I think I’m going to love socks. I hope I do because I’ve now bought sock needles in every size and lots and lots of yarn! I will add more pictures in my next post.
